Hello, everyone. When we first talked about celebrating the Centennial Jubilee--the 100th anniversary of Murshid's trip to the West on Sept. 13, 1910, we wanted to focus on that one date, Hejirat Day. But soon people insisted that the celebrations be all year, especially including the Urs and perhaps Murshid's birthday.
Now the idea is to start the Centennial Jubilee on New Year's Eve, on Dec. 31 of 2009, and consider the whole year as a Jubilee year. We're starting as soon as we can!
Our suggestion for New Year's Eve is to find some time that day, either in a group or alone, to pray for the wellbeing of the planet. If you are gathering with others, perhaps they would be interested in joining in this. This is a way for mureeds of all the Inayati groups to work together in the inner world, for the benefit of the outer world. A Universal Worship Service, Healing Circle, Zikr, Ziraat Lodge or Dances of Universal Peace would be especially fitting. A pause at a party would also do nicely.
This is the fourth time we have called for Prayers for the Planet, on New Year's Eve and on the summer (in the north) solstice. If you want to be tied in to the Federation of the Sufi Message on this day, the suggested theme is Harmony. The suggested theme for the Urs, you may remember, will be Love, Lover and Beloved.

I sang and played the vina; and practicing this music I arrived at a stage where I touched the Music of the Spheres. Then every soul became for me a musical note, and all life became music. Inspired by it I spoke to the people, and those who were attracted by my words listened to them, instead of listening to my songs.
Now, if I do anything, it is to tune souls instead of instruments; to harmonize people instead of notes. If there is anything in my philosophy, it is the law of harmony: that one must put oneself in harmony with oneself and with others. I have found in every word a certain musical value, a melody in every thought, harmony in every feeling; and I have tried to interpret the same thing, with clear and simple words, to those who used to listen to my music. I played the vina until my heart turned into this very instrument; then I offered this instrument to the divine Musician, the only musician existing. Since then I have become His flute; and when He chooses, He plays His music. The people give me credit for this music, which in reality is not due to me but to the Musician who plays on His own instrument. -Vol. II

Nice work both of you! It's going to be a full year indeed, with all of these events, and in addition the Federation meeting which will be open to mureeds in all the orders of Hazrat Inayat Khan, and will be held in California.
Here's a link, hopefully it will work:

In Toledo, Ohio, we are scheduled to dance at the Toledo Museum of Art from 2:00 - 3:00 PM on Dec. 31. Members of the Ann Arbor, MI, and Toledo dance circles will invite the audience to join them in the Dances of Universal Peace. We will include silent Prayers for the Planet.
Afterwards, we will gather for an 'Afterglow' to continue to dance and share a meal at Unity of Toledo. A flyer is available at http://peacedance.multifaithjourneys.org/ - click New Year's Eve.
It is always a great blessing to join with others throughout the world in this intention of peace. The centennial celebrations adds an additional dimension.
Thank you for creating this blog space.
